Retro BathroomThe Project Story
To help the owner tap into the lucrative Port Dickson homestay market, this apartment at Regency Tanjung Tuan underwent a targeted, low-cost refurbishment. The project focused on transforming a dated space into an inviting, cost-effective homestay, perfect for weekend getaways.
Within a tight RM 30,000 budget, the project prioritized aesthetic updates and high-impact soft furnishings without major structural overhauls. We adopted a blend of warm coastal living with Malay stylistic elements. The living area features iconic rattan furniture, a patterned blue rug, and heavy brown drapes that frame a stunning sea view. Artificial grass was added to the balcony floor, creating a cozy outdoor nook to watch the sunset over the Malacca Strait.
The bedrooms are updated with new beds, hotel-quality linens, and wall art, maintaining a neat, welcoming appeal. In the kitchen, existing warm wood cabinetry is complemented by new rattan bar stools, creating a cohesive breakfast bar experience. Even dated elements, like the striking retro olive green tilework and corner bathtub in the bathroom, were integrated into the design, adding a distinct vintage character. Executed efficiently within a one-month timeframe, this targeted refurbishment successfully elevated the property, creating a distinct and desirable homestay asset in a competitive coastal town.
